I love the comment of Charles Swindoll that Nehemiah was a “leader from the knees up!” Right through the book he is seen praying and encouraging others to pray. He had learned well the lesson of the importance of prayer in the months he had prayed in Susa for God to intervene and do something to restore and bless his people against all human odds.
